The Falkland Islands are located between latitude 51º and 53º South, and longitude 57º and 62º West. The islands are 500 km from the continent, with a coastline of 1,288 km. They are made up of two main islands: East Falklands and West Falklands, with several hundred smaller islands (around 200), covering a total surface área of about 4,700 square miles (12,173 square kilometers)
